GRAPES & WINE

This series, is about my passion for wine and the fascination of many Belgians, French, Italians, Europeans,... for good wine and how good wine is made. Often a fascinating topic of conversation at the table.

Good wine, great wine is first and foremost the result of a perfectly grown grape, in a good year, under good conditions on a unique soil. The grapes in the painting are colourful and behave like little planets, unique worlds unto themselves, all growing and eventually shining in their own way.

Good wine, great wine is of course also the result of the hard work of the winegrower/winemaker. His experience, love for the craft, dedication and perseverance, together with the methods he or she uses, the often bold choices he or she makes, create the wine's unique character and final flavour.

This is depicted in the painting by the strong, lived-in hands and with magical colours that show their true potential and power with thick layers of freshness and vibrancy.

The grapes are proudly displayed after the harvest, like a found treasure or won trophy.

Sometimes both grapes and hands produce an extraordinary result together...that is the magic of winemaking.
